2020 Texas Housing Conference Update

While every effort has been made to host a LIVE version of the 2020 Texas Housing Conference, current requirements do not allow, nor are they anticipated to allow, for large gatherings such as ours. Given our limitations, the TAAHP Board of Directors no longer believes an in-person conference in October is prudent and will instead move forward to present a second virtual event as a follow up to our very successful July virtual conference. We are fortunate to have such a robust system as a foundation for another valuable virtual experience and we are excited to replicate the platform and value in October. We will be working hard in the coming weeks to establish another round of critical educational programming and expanding the networking components at www.TexasHousingConference.org to provide for a more valuable experience.

If you have not already signed up to participate, now is your opportunity. All registrants will have access to both the workshops and panel discussions online from the July event as well as what is to come in October - giving you double the conference benefits for the same price. Thank you for your continued support of the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers and the Texas Housing Conference. Be on the lookout for more information soon!

NOTICE (August 12, 2020): If you had hotel reservations for the October conference dates, you will need to cancel your reservations for a full refund at least 30 days prior to your scheduled arrival.

Ground Transportation Options

Public Transportation

Capital Metro’s 100-AirportFlyer bus runs to and from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) every 30 minutes. Direct access to the Downtown area is $1.25. The route stops at the corner of Riverside and Town Creek Drive on the Southeast side, at the cross section of Fourth and Trinity streets Downtown, and on 23rd Street between Robert Dedman Drive and San Jacinto Boulevard near the University of Texas campus.

Car Share

car2go: Access one of these blue-and-white cars from dozens of Downtown locations. Members unlock the car with the car2go app, turn the key and drive for less than 50 cents per minute. No need to return it to where you found it or to pay at meters – that’s included already. It could take 1-2 business days for your membership to be processed before you can begin reserving cars, so plan ahead.

Members can use ZipCar's app or website to reserve a car for as little as an hour or for up to a week. Rates start at $9.75 per hour or $74 per day depending on your membership plan. Pick up your ZipCar at its designated Downtown parking spot and return it there when you’re done. There is no wait period before new users can begin reserving cars.

Taxis

Hailing a cab from the airport's transportation line on the lower level just outside baggage claim is probably a better option.
