The Economy: Terrific, Tepid or Terrifying

Attend this fast-paced and fun talk to learn about the condition of the economy with an emphasis on overall GDP growth, labor market conditions, wage growth, household wealth, trade policy, inflation and inflation expectation, the Fed and interest rates, and the yield curve. Eisenberg will then discuss the Republican tax cuts passed in late 2017 and the expiring bipartisan two-year spending package passed in early 2018 and how they are likely to impact the economy, and our fiscal condition in 2020 and beyond as well as the magnitude and timing of the next recession. The talk will then pivot towards residential real estate including housing prices and rents, demographic trends, construction activity, input costs, regulation, existing home sales activity, credit availability, the homeownership rate, and vacancy rates. The discussion will close by comparing economic conditions in all 50 states and economic conditions across the larger cities in Texas.
